Special Interest Groups

The WWC enjoys a variety of activities generated by special interest groups. These smaller gatherings provide a wonderful opportunity to foster friendships and share ideas.

Currently our groups are:

Book Club
Book club is held the second Wednesday of every month in the Community Room or a member's home.
Book Club members take turns moderating the discussion.

Craft Group
Craft Group meets the third Wednesday evening of each month. Projects in the past have included fall wreaths, decoupage Christmas ornaments, hand-painted flowerpot wind chimes, crocheted Easter eggs, holiday greenery arrangements, and bead necklaces. Members may present a craft or an idea for a project. There is a nominal charge for materials.

Gourmet Club
The Gourmet Club prides itself on having good taste! These cooking and fine dining enthusiasts have tried new recipes at progressive, potluck dinners, hors d'oeuvres parties and wine tastings. Members & spouses or significant others have dined on ethnic food, including a mini Oktoberfest, an Italian feast, Spanish tapas, and South of the Border cuisine. One event was organized around a vegetarian dinner. Another was an evening with our own Woodcroft Resident and Chef, Sam Knoll. Sam prepared fabulous meals with demonstration and instruction for groups of 20. In March members dined at Thai Palace in Chapel Hill. On a Saturday afternoon in May, the Club enjoyed a tour of local wineries (including food and wine tasting, of course).

Moms 'n Tots
Formerly dubbed Kool Aid and Crackers, this group enables moms to enjoy some adult contact (with the kids along, of course!). The moms and tots get together at different members' homes or at community areas like the Woodcroft playground or Piney Woods Park.

Mugs 'n Muffins
This morning social group meets at 9:15 a.m. once a month at different members'  homes for coffee,
tea, and homemade goodies. Rain and snow does not deter members from gathering for
good food and good conversation.

Out & About
This group was developed as a means to invite others to join when members are interested in sharing a meal, a movie or some music.

Bridge, Fitness/Walking, and Gardening are other special interest groups that have met or been proposed in the past. Members are free to develop any desired special interest group depending on interest and participation.

(Note:  One's club dues must be paid in full to participate in a special interest group.)
